Fajita Sauce

There have been various fajita sauces on the market over the years, but they all end up being discontinued which is a crying shame as it’s one of favourite ways to enjoy fajitas. Here is our recipe inspired by the various sauces we have tried over the years – its dead easy to make it home and freeze for quick meals!

Ingredients

  • 2 red onions
  • 4 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 1/3 cup of balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1/2 a jar of Gran Luchito Smoked Chilli Paste 100G (or less if you don’t want as much heat!)
  • 2 cartons of tomato pasata
  • 1 tsp of honey
  • 2 sugar cubes
  • 1 tbsp each of: paprika, cumin, Mexican oregano
  • 1 tsp each of:  onion granules, chilli powder, coriander, oregano
  • 1/2 a pack of Capsicana Mexican Smoked Cumin + Chipotle Seasoning Mix

Method

  1. Dice onions and start to brown in some garlic/chilli oil. Add minced garlic after a few minutes of cooking and continue to cook on low for 10 minutes
  2. Add balsamic vinegar and Worcestershire sauce to deglaze the pan and simmer for a few minutes
  3. Add tomato puree, chilli puree, honey, herbs and spices – mix together
  4. Add tomatoe pasata and mix all ingredients together. Cover and simmer for 30-40 minutes until a dark, rich sauce is formed (add water if sauce is too thick)
  5. Portion up into containers and freeze if not using right away. It should make 5 x 200g portions and each portion will server 2 people
